Supporting Entrepreneurs and Policy Development
Supporting entrepreneurs is critical for economic and social recovery from COVID-19 and associated lockdowns. Businesses have faced unprecedented, rapid changes, and many have adapted through shifts to alternative means of product and service delivery. As Yukon moves into a post-vaccine phase of the pandemic, important questions remain about the longer-term impacts on businesses and how to enable them to thrive under our ‘new normal’.
The Yukon Entrepreneurship Podcast began as a project to interview Yukon business owners about their experiences under COVID-19. Through funding from the Yukon COVID-19 Recovery Research Program, we have been fortunate to turn YEP into a research project that will bring policy recommendations to industry organizations, business associations, and governments.
Our central research question is: How have entrepreneurs transitioned their business models during the COVID-19 pandemic? We want to gain a better understanding of how entrepreneurs have overcome barriers, sustained motivation, and accessed sources of innovation during this crisis. Our interviews explore operational changes undertaken by businesses in early stages of the pandemic (Season 1), operational adjustments by businesses post-vaccine (Season 2), as well as changes in the ways that entrepreneurs think about their business models.
